Hot off the presses! The Everyday Journal is here!

Everyone, the new edition of our quarterly journal is online and waiting to be read by you!

This month we meander through ancient practices, culture, poetry, theology, and memoir. One of the most exciting aspects of starting a new journal is that we have the opportunity to experiment with how what we publish meets our objective of providing an intersection between "liturgy, Christianity, theology, and culture." The highlight of this issue is our interview with Brian McLaren on his new book Finding Our Way Again: The Return of the Ancient Practices. This interview is a great example of the intersection between personal spirituality and the big questions of today's world we hope The Everyday Journal will continue to offer in the issues (and years) to come.

Thinking About the Trinity

In this month's Everyday Journal, Dan Porter shared his view on the "Trinity as Doctrine and Confession", which I think is important to consider along with John Mark's notion that American Protestantism clings to one person of the Trinity more than the other, depending on whether you are a fundamentalist, evangelical, or pentacostal.

Dan writes on the basic premise of Trinitarian theology:

The Everyday Journal believes that there is a desire for graduate-level scholarship at the intersection of the study of liturgy, Christianity, theology, and culture. We think aspiring academics, thinkers, and armchair theologians need an outlet for ideas, research, and discussion in a positive yet critical environment. Too often scholarship is squelched in a cut-throat publishing driven journal culture that does not give adequate coverage to those who are skilled scholars without the credentials. The Everyday Journal exists to foster a community of rigorous scholarship and thought that is open to those writers who are on their way to more advanced degrees, publishing, or writing. This journal provides an outlet for the formulation of scholarly ideas and research that is evolving, much like conference papers are read and given in order to further the academic endeavors of the presenter.

We welcome all submissions for review and possible publishing.  See more information on the Submissions page. ... more
