Submissions

Everyday Liturgy publishes both blog posts and a monthly online journal, The Everyday Journal: Notes on Theological Living. Guidelines for submitting to both the blog and journal follow.

Blog Submissions:

The mission of Everyday Liturgy is to be a conversation about spiritual and theological living. Anyone and everyone is welcome to our conversation, whether as a reader, commenter, author or contributor. Everyone is welcome to register on the site and make a profile for themselves so they do not have to fill in information while commenting, and this registration process also gives the user the ability to submit a post to the blog as an author. All author blog posts will be reviewed by one of the editors of the site, and you will be notified whether your post will be published on the blog or not.

Please note that we are concerned with spiritual and theological living, and as such we do not accept straight news stories or general Christian topics. We encourage a very wide conversation but want all posts to be connected with the how, what, why of Christianity. Topics that we would encourage submissions on are worship practices, prayer, liturgy, lectio divina, mysticism, spiritual theology, spiritual living, theological living, ecumenical discussions, postmodernism, and book, movie, music, or cultural reviews that have implications for Christian living.

Journal Submissions:

The mission of The Everyday Journal is to engage academics, thinkers, and armchair theologians in a community of rigorous scholarship and discussion formed through a positive, yet critical environment. The purpose of the journal is to give a bigger space to voices and discussions than the blog allows.

Types of Content:

Article- We are looking to publish several articles each month that are centered around spiritual and theological living. As such, we are not looking for rote theological or biblical studies papers such as the parsing of Greek verbs in 1 John or a discussion of Calvin's views on Revelation, but for articles that would describe how John parsed the verbs that way to create a more prayerful letter or how Calvin's view on Revelation effects our personal eschatalogy. As the subtitle of this journal is Notes on Theological Living we are not looking for 15-20 page essays, but anything from three to ten pages.

Meditation- Submissions of devotional/meditation type material is welcome. Preference will be given to meditations that fit the season of the Church calendar the issue will be published during.

Reviews- We welcome the submission of reviews of books, music, movies, and cultural events. Preference is given to books that deal with such topics as worship practices, prayer, liturgy, lectio divina, mysticism, spiritual theology, spiritual living, theological living, postmodernism, and ecumenical discussions.

If your work is selected to be in the journal the editors reserve the right to edit a submission---if major changes are necessary you will be notified to revise and resubmit.

If you are not a registered user of Everyday Liturgy you may e-mail submissions to everydayjournal {at} gmail {dot} com
