The Table Surpasses Theology

Concerning the Eucharist I have begun to think about how the devaluation of the Table from sacrament to ordinance has caused a loss of symbolism and metaphor in the meal itself.
When we come back to a sacramental view of the Table (and of life itself) we can begin to view the Eucharist as a multi-leveled act: a drama, if you will. We are re-enacting the Eucharist of Christ and his disciples at the same time as we re-enact the Eucharist of all the saints before and enact the Eucharist of our own community as we look forward to enacting the Eucharist for all time (characterized by the Great Feast). As an act that is past, present, and future, the Eucharist can begun to be seen in much the same way as Scot McKnight views atonement: a collection of metaphors that are all needed, like golf clubs fitting in a golf bag.
What this means, for me, is that the spiritual act of the Eucharist, as a common table between Christians, surpasses theological doctrine or human reasoning of the Table. The Eucharist's power is found in thanksgiving, and we need to remember to give thanks that what we believe in is foolishness to Greeks and a stumbling block to Jewish people; yet, we still believe!
We cannot always explain what happens when we worship God. Let it be unexplainable. Let it be mystery. Let it be worship.

As with most of your posts, I find myself saying, Amen - can't agree more.
Instead of boring you with why that focus from the ancient symbols and mysteries have been minimized.
What's interesting to me is that when you say this to modern evangelical churches, they generally reply with something like, "What we love the Lord's Supper!! We do it like, every month!. Takes up like 15 minutes or so."
As you know many pomos are very interested in the ancient and the modern with mystery and science and in time, you'll find more congregations appreciating more eucharistic elements. Then when you are satisfied, your grandchildren will post on whatever their equivalent of a blog is about how bored they are with our preferences/elements of worship.
