Dutch Don't Know What Lent Is Anymore, Call It "Christian Ramadan"

A Dutch Catholic organization wants the people of the Netherlands to celebrate Lent again, but not many Hollanders know what Lent is anymore.  But they do hear a lot about Islam in the media, so the Catholic charity Vastenaktie has decided to drop the traditional name and call Lent the "Christian Ramadan."  More via Crunchy Con:

"The image of the Catholic Lent must be polished. The fact that we use a Muslim term is related to the fact that Ramadan is a better-known concept among young people than Lent," said Vastenaktie Director, Martin Van der Kuil.

These people have lost their faith, and quite possibly their minds. What on earth are they thinking?!

Should we start calling Christmas the "Christian Hannukah, now with Child!"?  More importantly, how do Christian denominations in America recover Lent and Christian celebrations without erring like the Dutch?
