Praying for Rain
November 15, 2007 - 7:08pm by ThomasAn interesting story has been circulating on the news, that in the governor of Georgia has hosted a prayer meeting where they prayerfully asked God to bring rain to the drought-stricken region. It seems, for the most part, is that the reason this is news is because people had become complacent in their blessedness and this type of thing hasn't happened for a long time.
I have fond memories of being part of a church with many farmers and praying for rain and good crops yearly. I fear that in our blessedness drought has become a novelty, and that we have lost touch with the seasons and the fact that we are interacting with the earth. And I lament the fact that with so few farmers and so many suburbanites and urbanites we have even lost our appreciation for rain, that it is necessary and good, but instead treat rain as a nuisance that ruins our commutes and takes away our picture-perfect sunny days that we feel nature owes us.
Pray for rain! And when it comes, jump in some puddles and smile.
