When troubles come across my way,
When sorrow fills my heart,
Whenever I feel defeated
Before I even start,

When my soul is burdened down
By fear of the unknown,
When I'm too scared to cede control
Of a life you already own.

It's these times that are your specialty,
These times you show your love.
Instead of a deserved punishment
You send grace from above.

You don't take away my heartache
Or free me from my pain,
But teach me how to live with them
And use them for your gain.

So, Lord, I pray you'll give me peace.
Reveal to me your will,
That I would know that you are God
And my heart would be still.
